ALLENTOWN - A former teacher, described in court as someone who spent months trying to "brainwash" a student to make her a sexual tool, was sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison today by a Northampton County judge who said it was the worst case of abuse she has seen.
The sentence against Keri Ann Brekne, 28, of Bethlehem came after the 15-year-old victim and her parents described Brekne as a cold, manipulative woman who used her position at a Warren County, N.J., middle school to win the girl's trust, ensnare her, isolate her and finally abuse her.

LA - A suspended Louisiana School for the Deaf teacher admitted in state court Friday that she e-mailed sexually explicit images and messages to a 16-year-old female student. Amanda Elizabeth Key, 30, pleaded guilty through a sign language interpreter to a felony charge of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

PONCA CITY — A former Ponca City East Middle School teacher was charged with the forcible sodomy and second-degree rape of a 14-year-old student Wednesday.
Ashley Renea Flores, 26, pleaded not guilty in Kay County District Court to having a month-long, sexual relationship with a male student in her math class earlier this year. A court affidavit states that Flores and the student engaged in sexual acts on “six to eight different occasions” in July, in places such as her bed, the floor of her house, the back seat of her vehicle and in the swimming pool at her parents’ house.

SANFORD - A former middle school teacher accused of having sex with a 14-year-old student in her car pleaded no contest to a reduced charge today and was sentenced to five years probation.
Jennifer Tarkenton, 34, who has since gotten married and goes by Jennifer Nero, was arrested Nov. 30, shortly after she and the student were discovered in her Ford Focus on a deserted stretch of road near Lake Mary.

Tawni Wimberley, faces up to 18 months in prison on each count but could receive probation under terms of a plea agreement. TAMPA - Middleton High School special education teacher Christina Lin Butler pleaded guilty today to felony lewdness charges related to a three-week affair with a 16-year-old ninth-grader.
The prosecutor only referred to the victim by the initials VB. He said the student was "borderline mentally retarded." Duran said the victim was a student in Butler's class and that Butler developed an attraction to him. He said she took the student to her apartment to have sex.

NEW YORK - A Dutchess County teacher has pleaded guilty in New York City to the statutory rape of a mentally disabled student. Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown says 27-year-old Mandi Weeks of Hannacroix (HANNA'-croy), N.Y., has pleaded guilty to third-degree rape. She faces six months in jail and 10 years probation when she is sentenced on Jan. 12, and will become a registered sex offender.

RIPLEY, Tenn. - A former West Tennessee teacher accused of having sex with a student has been convicted of child abuse.
Amy Elder, a 28-year-old former teacher and softball coach at Ripley High School, was accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl.

TEXAS - The Harris County District Attorney's Office obtained a 40-year prison sentence Thursday against a former schoolteacher for aggravated sexual assault and indecency on five of her fifth-grade students.
Brandy Lynn Gonzales, 30, pleaded guilty Aug. 4 to the series of sexual offenses during her 2003-04 assignment to Piney Point Elementary School.
The offenses included fondling inside the classroom, oral sex during outings with some of the boys at a mall and movie theater, and intercourse at her residence.

ORANGE, Calif. — A high school band director in Orange County has been charged with having sex with one of her students. Carlie Attebury, a 29-yer-old who works at El Modena High School, was charged Friday with eight felony counts.

BILLINGS - Stacey Dean Rambold, 49, has been charged in District Court with three counts of felony sexual intercourse without consent. CHICAGO -UPDATE (All Charges were Dismissed) Rebecca Daniels, 37, of the 5500 block of South Everett Avenue, was charged over the weekend and appeared Sunday in Cook County Bond Court, according to court records. Daniels (right) is charged with two counts of criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to the records.
Daniels is listed as a faculty member at Calumet High School in the Auburn-Gresham neighborhood, according to the school's Web site. She allegedly had sex with two students and a former student of the school. One of the boys was 15, and the other two were 16, prosecutors said. The sexual contact allegedly occurred over the summer and ended Oct. 15, prosecutors said.She was held Sunday in lieu of $100,000 bail, authorities said. - Read the entire article here
