Missouri - A former day care worker and teacher was sentenced to seven years in prison Monday after she pleaded guilty to statutory rape and sodomy.
"Everyone was pleased with the outcome -- everyone on our side," said Jill Patterson, assistant Greene County prosecuting attorney. "I thought it was just, the families thought it was just."
Laura Kirkland was accused of having sexual intercourse and oral sex with a boy she baby-sat from ages 8 to 10. She was also accused of statutory sodomy with a 16-year-old family friend.
Kirkland was a former employee of Nurturing Place in Springfield and Christian Schools of Springfield. Both employers told the News-Leader they were shocked and upset when Kirkland was charged in 2008. - Read the entire article here
