More Females in Authority Emerging as Child Predators

I find it good to see more and more articles showing up that look at these issues:


Child predators can be anywhere, and now we are learning child predators can be anyone.

"The conversation has come up lately because we have charged more than normal in the last several years."

About a half dozen women- all in authority positions- accused of molesting the kids who trust them.

Most recently sentenced, Alison Peck, convicted of having sex with a teen she taught at Greenfield High School, and Monday Laura Kirkland will be sentenced for molesting two children, a16-year-old she taught at Christian Schools in Springfield and a 9-year-old boy she babysat.

It's likely there are others we haven't heard about.

"What the national research will tell you is that under-reporting among sexual abuse victims is very high."

Possibly highest for young males, according to Assistant Greene County Prosecuting Attorney Jill Patterson.

She participated in a training course focused on the female teacher as a sexual abuser, a criminal she says is often under-estimated.

"You even see judges quoted from sentencing these women saying 'I don't think she's a danger,'" Patterson explains. -
