I wanted to post this article where 2 children are accusing their mother of molesting them previously. I read things like this and wonder. Often the alleged victim is some poor victimized woman who the defense attorney is going after. In this instance it is a man and a woman (brother and sister).
The day after a 20-year-old Woodbury man testified that his mother molested him as a child, her defense lawyer tried to show that the son made up the story out of spite over a bitter divorce and custody battle.
"You blamed your mom for your dad leaving, didn't you?" defense lawyer Kevin Keating said in Nassau County Court in Mineola Friday.
"Yes," the young man answered calmly. "She was pretty crazy."
The 53-year-old mother of three is being tried on charges that she molested two of her children over several years when they were young. Newsday is not naming her to avoid identifying the children.
The woman, who lived with her children in Syosset and now lives in Seaford, has been charged with three counts of second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child and second-degree sexual abuse. Her children are now 17, 20 and 24.
Keating, of Garden City, has said that the son and his younger sister were convinced to falsely accuse their mother of molesting them during a vicious custody battle between their parents after their 1998 divorce.
Friday, Keating recalled a night when the boy was 12 when he threatened suicide if he had to stay at his mother's house instead of being allowed to go to his father's house. His mother sent him for overnight evaluation at a mental hospital rather than allowing him to return to his father's, which deeply angered him, according to his testimony.
Keating also questioned the man about an inconsistency in his testimony: He now claims that he was molested nearly every day from ages 6 to 11, but in 2004, he signed a police statement that said he was molested about once a week from ages 6 to 8, according to his testimony. - Read the entire article here
